MCD began his music career in late 2001 when he discovered the world of text battling on a rap forum. Drawn to the competitive and creative nature of 'dissing' opponents, he quickly began writing lyrics and participating in various text tournaments. In 2002, with encouragement from a friend, MCD transitioned from writing to recording, laying down his first track in September of that year. His early work was heavily influenced by rap powerhouses of the time, but he also infused a rock and metal vibe into his music, drawing inspiration from artists like Jonathan Davis of KoRn. This blend of styles earned him the affectionate nickname “The King of Emo Rap“ in online communities.
Present
Today, MCD continues to experiment with different musical styles, always pushing the boundaries of his sound. His career highlights include receiving a commendation from MTV for a track about U.K. politics in 2004, working with legendary producer Martin Rushent, and achieving recognition from The Guardian for his track “I Will Wait,” which was described as “The EmoStep track that nobody asked for.” He also contributed vocals to the Russian House Producer Rudenko’s hit “Stranger,“ which peaked at number three in the U.K. Dance Charts. MCD’s music often delves into horror themes, reflecting his morbid interest in the genre and a flair for the theatrical, which is evident throughout his discography.
What's Next
Looking ahead, MCD plans to continue his exploration of dark and theatrical music themes, with a focus on blending various genres to create unique sounds. He has released three full-length LPs, including the intensely dark “CoronaVIOLENCE“ and his most recent project, “The Upside Down: Chapter One,“ which features collaborations with many of his peers. MCD remains dedicated to evolving his sound and pushing the boundaries of what his music can achieve, all while staying true to the distinctive style that has defined his career.
