Almighty VA (formerly known as XM) got his start on rap forums back in 2001 at a library in Norfolk, VA. Raised in the Bronx, NY, and born in Virginia, his love for music and creativity was influenced by artists such as Timbaland, Pharrell, Missy Elliot, and Nottz Raw. His serious start with music began at Lake Taylor High School when he joined a local music group named “Coalition.” In the group, he battled other local artists from other schools on and off the mic until the murder of a member and dear friend caused the group members to go their separate ways. Around this time, Almighty VA, known as Renegade, started building a name for himself as “XM Da Sirius God” in the audio battle league of Rapbattles.com. He became a prominent figure on the site in battling, song-making, and music production, forming genuine friendships and offline support through these forum relationships.

His passion for music is fueled by diverse influences, including Rakim, Andre 3000, Ludacris, Joe Budden, J Cole, Earth Gang, and Joyner Lucas. After leaving the United States Army, he spent 10 years off and on hiatus from music to work on his mental state while suffering from severe depression, drug habits, and alcoholism.
