The Origin: In late 2021, Aaron “Cody” Nash decided to hold a rap tournament amongst artists that her had worked with over the last couple of decades. He reached out to various artists that he had met on hip-hop forums where he learned how to turn his passion for music into his own artist catalog. After the tournament, several of the gathered on a discord server and began to lay down the foundation of what would eventually become White Collar Rhymes.
As the community grew, the team realized that there was a need in the music business to demonstrate to other artists, producers, and engineers who put their musical journeys aside because of their families, careers, or just lack of support. With a weekly, live music review show, the founding crew share with other artists, insights that they have learned to recognize through their years of experience and listening to music trends. The discord community serves as a hub where everyone gathers to debate the latest in the news or simply vent about their day; a resource that some just down have to inspire their creative drive.
In 2023, the group broke new ground by renting a mansion and traveling to meet up with the ambitious goal of recording an album and documenting the process. After one week of non-stop recording in Austin, Texas, the outcome is a captivating story of how everyone came together without the typical negative narratives in reality shows and did what they set out to do. The Last Mixtape is in progress to be distributed for mass consumption early 2025!
Additionally, White Collar Rhymes has transitioned into a record label that distributes music from the founding members on their behalf while also offering mixing, mastering, and features to others. For artists who are new to their journey or those who are years into it, the team dedicates their time and energy into anyone who needs a service.
